It started from diving into my unconscious and realizing I wanted simply to express.

Every morning at Vatos, Samothrace, Greece I awoke with the sunrise and drew. Black and white pieces, one a day, no plan, no agenda. Just the light coming up over the Aegean and a pen moving across paper.

At some point the pieces got bigger. Then colour crept in. When I arrived at Highden Mystery School in New Zealand, Celina handed me a set of markers. That was it — an explosion of colour that hasn't stopped since.

I make one piece every day. Marker on A4 paper. Bold, surreal, psychedelic — creatures and faces and dreamscapes pulled from wherever the hand goes when the mind gets out of the way. The work has been made on beaches, in mystery schools, in jungles and in cafes from Melbourne to Ubud.

Before all this I spent twenty years making theatre. Five solo shows — Uber Alice, Cactus - the seduction, Jolly Roger, The Spy, The Accident — touring the world, standing ovations in Canada, anguish in Edinburgh and much much laughter. That life taught me everything about performance, commitment, and the courage it takes to put something true in front of an audience. The drawings are the same thing, just quieter.

Everything here was made in the moment it desired to exist. Thank you for sharing your moments with me.
